First Class to Italy. A trip on Lufthansa for 2 from San Francisco to Venice, Italy- for just 200,000 miles (retail price per roundtrip ticket $19,550).
Since they did not have 200,000 miles – we helped them purchase the miles from their Amex membership rewards at a cost of $2,500 per 100,000 pts.
Total savings for the two first class seats: $34,100.
Assisted a husband and wife in flying round-trip between Hanoi, Vietnam and Miami, Florida. We found them two First Class seats for just 135,000 American Express Membership Rewards points and $70 in taxes each. With the average retail fare for a First Class seat on this route at the time being $15,195 per person, they got over $30,000 in First Class airline travel for essentially free! The 270,000 Amex membership rewards points that they used for this trip made those points worth over 11 cents each. In other words, they essentially earned the equivalent of 11% cash back for each dollar that they charged on their American Express card!
Business Class to London. Assisted a business traveler who wanted to use miles to fly roundtrip between New York and London in Business Class. He contacted the airline directly and was quoted 105,000 miles for the flight. We found the same Business Class seat on the same airline for him –for just 63,000 miles – a 40% savings in miles – on a ticket with an average retail fare at the time of $10,068.
First Class from Australia. A young couple came to us looking to fly First Class around the world on their honeymoon from Sydney, Australia with stops in Chicago, St. Petersburg, Russia and Bangkok, Thailand during mid-summer. We found two First Class seats for them for just 140,000 miles and $225 in taxes each. And if they hadn’t had enough miles for this, it would have cost them $3,500 each to purchase the miles – for a First Class ticket with an average retail fare at the time of $29,228 each!
First Class to China. A family of five came to us looking to fly roundtrip in First Class between Dallas and Hong Kong, with stops in Beijing and Xi’an, China, over the Christmas holiday. We found them five seats together in First Class for 120,000 miles plus $150 in taxes each. And if they didn’t have enough miles for this, it would have cost $3,000 each to purchase the miles – for First Class tickets with an average retail fare of $19,173 each!
